Blog #5: Next on the list...

I would not be human if I did not constantly think and dwell about my goals and aspirations in life.  I actually think the word "aspiration" is quite heavy, because it can hold your goals and desires up to a high standard.  Either way,  I do have a miniature bucket list of things I hope to complete and accomplish in the next 5 years of time.

Besides world domination, here is my bucket list!

1. Further my study in Doula work.
I took a break from my doula training and practicing to focus on other interests.  But within these next 5 years, I would love to get back into my passion of holistic birth practices and doula/birth coaching (whether I make side-money off of it or not).

2. Travel back to Egypt.
One of my best friends (who now lives back and forth between Russia, Egypt, and the US) grew up in Hurghada.  And in one spur of the moment experience, I decided to drop everything and go live at her home there for a couple months. Originally, I was a little nervous because of how the media portrayed it as a dangerous and violent place. Well i'd live to give a big middle-finger to the media because the culture, people, and country is staggering.  Once I graduate I plan on flying back because it was a life changing trip!

The Red Sea in Hurghada, Egypt.

3. See the Northern Lights.
I have always wanted to stay in a glass igloo and watch the Northern Lights in Finland.  My parents went to see the Lights on their honeymoon over 25 years ago, and since I heard about that trip I have not let the idea go.  Now that I have been putting money aside for more travel, it is definitely an aspiration of mine to live this story-book experience.

4. Put down the nicotine.
I started smoking cigarettes at a fairly young age (around sixteen years old).  As a teen, it was more so to be rebellious, which eventually lead to smoking because of stress.  But by age eighteen I was smoking over a pack a day, not because I wanted to be rebellious anymore, or not even because I was stressed, but because I HAD to.  My body was dependent. Fast forward some years, I eventually got off cigarettes and switched over to other nicotine devices. These nicotine devices have helped kick my cigarette craving.  However, with all the healthier life style changes I have made in the past few years of my life, nicotine in any form has continued to be a hard one to fight. I am ready though!

Don't think of it as quitting, think of it as gaining.

5. Actually do things on my Bucket list.
It is easy to dream or write about your goals and aspirations, but it can be troublesome to follow through.  Thats why my number 5 on my bucket list is to follow through on my bucket list. :)

  1. I should have added your #5 to my bucket list as well! Similar to New Year's resolutions, making a bucket list is a lot easier then actually DOING. It's all completely dependent on the individual whether or not they will actually start crossing things off their bucket list. You have some challenging items on your list that are going to be exciting to pursue! Hopefully you get around to the world domination as well. Good luck!

  2. hello,
I really liked how you described the things that mean the most to and it looks like you love to travel. I also liked that you have are cutting down on cigarrettes which is awesome to do since breaking an addiction is the hardest thing to do. I hope that you achieve all of those ideas on your bucket list and that you continue to travel beacause it creates experiences that you will never forget.
